Climate: Along the West of the coastal mountain range Syria's climate is very Mediterranean, however there is a long dry season from May to October. Summer rain is very scarce in Syria, although it appears occasionally in the extreme Northwest. On the coast summers are hot and very humid, with an average daily maximum of 29 C, while the mild winters have an average daily minimum of 10 C.
Damascus, the average August temperature is about 30° C, and the average January temperature is about 4.4° C

 

Only one visit to Syria will make you see wide horizons of human life spread over a Deep-rooted history. Since the oldest ages and almost before ten thousands year B.C., this land was the center for human civilization, when you visit its museums and see its treasures and ruins, you will feel that you are reading an encyclopedia telling you about the human civilization and its development.

This land is also a melting-pot of successive civilizations and diversified cultures dating back almost ten thousand years: Sumerians, Amorites, Akkadians, Hittites, Pharaohs, Assyrians, Canaanites, Phoenicians, Arameans, Nabateans, Byzantines, Gassanids, followed by the Islamic civilizations: Umayyads, Abbasids, Tulunids, Ikhshidids, Fatimids and Atabegs.
